Artist Bio
Here’s a little about myself…
Kelly Lynn Wright was born and raised in Helper, Utah. A self-taught artist, she works in oils, acrylics, watercolor, inks, and image transfer. Her creative journey began in 1998 when she drove 200 miles once a week to study the art of porcelain doll making. Her Native American dolls were showcased in West of Santa Fe at Caesar’s Forum Shops in Las Vegas for 12 years and were sold and shipped around the world. In 2017, she was commissioned to create artwork for Urgent Care in Price, Utah, and her work was featured in the Gallery East Art Exhibit in 2020. Most recently, she began a mentorship with renowned artist Jean Claude Gaugy. Though she came to painting later in life, it has become her passion—and every spare moment is devoted to creating.
Painting is my sanctuary—a way for me to escape and let creativity guide me. Most of the time, when I sit down to begin a new piece, I have no idea where it will take me. Often, the finished work is completely different from what I imagined at the start, and I love that unpredictability. It’s a reflection of the diversity you’ll find in my art.
I’m captivated by the endless possibilities of creation. I enjoy experimenting with different mediums—acrylics, oils, watercolor, inks, and textures—constantly mixing things up to keep my process fresh and exciting. For me, art isn’t about following a set path; it’s about exploration and discovery.
There’s nothing more rewarding than stepping back after finishing a piece and thinking, “Wow… I did that.” It’s this sense of wonder and satisfaction that drives me to keep creating and sharing my work.
